Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien, Rector, and representative leaders and staff of several functional offices and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM). Prof. Dr. Tran Duc Vien congratulated and extended his sincere thanks to Mr. Ryoji Yamaguchi for his tremendous contributions for not only the development of agriculture and rural development but also the enhancement of bilateral cooperation and mutual understanding.

Mr. Ryoji Yamaguchi was born in 1955 in Japan. He is now Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the University of Miyazaki, Japan. He came to Vietnam in 1999 for the first time and laid the foundation for the cooperation on human resource training in the veterinary field since 2002. Over the past 12 years, he has made great efforts in finding scholarships and funding sources even taking his personal money to support Vietnamese students to study at the University of Miyazaki. He directly trained 8 PhD for Vietnam. Currently, he is supervising 6 PhD candidates and providing substantial supports to 6 other staff and students of the FVM to study for 6 months at the University of Miyazaki. Since 2007, he has provided the FVM with technical support for a successful establishment of the ISO 17025 laboratory.

Dr. Ryoji Yamaguchi was delighted to receive the Medal and would like to share his honor with the FVM staff and those who have supported and worked diligently with him to gain such outstanding achievements. He was again committed himself to continue his best efforts for Vietnam’s sustainable economic development, poverty reduction, environmental protection, and especially agriculture and rural development.
